I decided to get up at 3:45 and wander down to the Aransas National Wildlife Preserve. There was a certain amount of fatigue introduced errors, including the "drive 30 minutes, and reliaze I forgot to get the batteries out of the charger for one of my cameras" moment. So instead of leaving at 4, the effective time I left was 5. Also, it was so foggy, I drove past one turn and had to turn around.
I keep meaning to write up a checklist (macro lens, telephoto lens, landscape lens, flash, memory, camera, BATTERY, tripod, tripod mount, etc) and take it to my front door.
Oh well. My main goals were to see the rare and endangered whooping crane (less than 500 in existense now, which is a huge gain from 70 years ago) and see an alligator out in the wild. Both missions accomplished.
