Looking at the 2013 stuff, this was one of my candidates. I ultimately went with another shot. But then, I started wondering, did I ever even post this one?
I sat on top of Enchanted Rock http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/enchanted-rock and watched a lovely sunset. Then starting at dusk (and ending in dark) I took a shortcut off the rock, which basically took me to some vertical rock climbing. With a camera tripod. And a camera. And several lenses. And a sleeping bag. And a sleeping pad. And three liters of water. And some gatoraide. And a couple of cans of bug spray. etc.
Then, after I got down from the rock, I wandered in the dark for a couple of hours before I found my camp site. All the time thinking "If only I had a gps with me."
Then, a month later I was looking through my backpack trying to find a flashlight, and what did I find? My wrist GPS. Sure woulda came in handy...
Anyway, appy-poly-loggies if I've posted this.
-- I've added a map. "Sure" you are saying, "How could anybody get so lost when they are standing on the dang trail."
Hey, I was tired. And it was a dark night, and one section of trail looks like pretty much any other.
Still, you'd (or at least I) would have thought with a great big freaking rock to orient myself with, I'd be able to figure out where I was. Apparently not though.
